Our kindergarten students learned the basics of block coding with Puzzlets! Puzzlets are physical pieces of code along with a tray that connects to the iPads. Students work in pairs to decide which pieces of code to put in the tray to have the character on the iPad complete different challenges. The challenges get more difficult the further you get in the game. Our kindergarten students were up for the challenge and the communication was outstanding!

Kindergarten put their problem-solving and engineering skills to the test today! We read Muncha! Muncha! Muncha! as a class. We decided we needed to come up with a design that would keep those pesky rabbits out of Mr. McGreely's garden! Partners talked through and agreed on their plan. Then, some chose to sketch it out. Next, was putting the plan into action, by building a prototype! We had walls, traps, levers, cameras, and more! Those rabbits were NOT going to outsmart these clever kindergartners! The ideas were amazing, but what was most impressive were the kind words, sharing, listening, and cooperation it takes to be part of a good team! Well done!
We had our annual Battle of the Books, where our 4th and 5th graders took part in a game show like competition. Each team of 4 went head-to-head to see who could answer the most questions correctly about the list of 20 books. I am so proud of all of our teams! Our winning team, Diamond Dragonsaurs, will go on to 'battle' the winning teams of Highland and Stenson Schools at the junior high tomorrow!
