I saw this commercial recently and loved it. It definitely reflects how we want our students thinking in problem based learning and in the design process; see a problem, empathize with the user, define it and learn about it, ideate as many solutions as possible, prototype your solution, test it...and continue to cycle through the process to improve upon ideas. Be thinkers, problem-solvers, and innovators! Here are some picture books to plant the seed!

October 20, 2017 from Katie Connelly on Vimeo. While we're always talking about how to be good digital citizens, weaving these conversations into lessons, and taking advantage of those teachable moments, this week we have some extra resources!
Common Sense Media eSchool News #DigCitWeek2017 Our 2nd graders have been studying different kinds of communities in their classrooms. In groups, they decided which type of community they would be creating, what types of places belonged there, and made sure the needs of the community were met. In each community there were places to live, play, work, and solve problems. They had wonderful examples of urban, suburban, and rural communities. Next, it was time to learn how to block code! We headed to code.org to begin a class. After some lessons on code.org, it was time to test their coding skills by using the app Blockly to code the Dash & Dot robots. The good news is...Dash and friends got to just about every place they needed to go! Great job 2nd grade!!
