After weeks of researching, brainstorming, designing, and prototyping. Mrs. Peterson's class put it all into action! Their design is placed in Area 68, the school library space. Building their structure in the D-Lab, under the assistance and close watch of Mr. Peterson, this class really showed their teamwork and collaboration. The structure was made so that when watered, the inverted recycled plastic bottles drains any excess water into the bottles below...and the bottles below them...and the bottles below them. It works...and is so cool to watch! The plants chosen by the class are appropriate for our zone and will be transplanted to our outdoor landscape, making our school grounds even more beautiful. Bravo 4th graders! This was one amazing learning experience for all! Thank you!

The Monarch Winner has been announced! Gaston! After weeks of reading as many Monarch Books as a we could, our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders voted for the book they thought should win the award. When all of our school votes were counted at Devonshire, we had This Book Just Ate My Dog as the winner with 20 votes; see image below. The other children of the state of Illinois spoke with their vote and Gaston was determined to be the state wide winner! I personally had lot of fun reading that book too! See results below! The Battle of the Books was a huge success yet again! The idea of this program is to get our 4th and 5th grader students reading and discussing good books and we did just that! Teams of students read a list of 20 books, then faced-off in a game show like competition of questions regarding details of the books. I was so impressed by not only their knowledge, but their sportsmanship and teamwork! Our winning team went on to face Stenson and Highland Schools at the District Battle and boy were we proud! Way to go Dolphins!
