As part of the social studies curriculum, both 2nd and 4th graders were learning different aspects of economics. While the 2nd graders were learning about spending vs. saving, needs vs. wants, effects out choices make, and the role of money within a community. Our 4th graders were learning about goods vs. services, producers vs. consumers, incentives, budgets, cost and profit. We also learned how media plays a role in economics. We learned advertisement techniques and created media we thought our 2nd graders would respond to. As a culmination of all of the learning, we had a sale! Our 4th graders were the producers of goods and services. Our 2nd graders were our savvy consumers. Fun was had by all!
